INTRODUCTION (Provide a brief background to the activities
implemented within the grant period in the space below) |
|
During this phase of the project,
public education and awareness creation programs on TB took place on the
markets especially during market days, the ghettos, the taxi ranks, work
places, some educational institutions and also home visits. . Those with cough were screened, samples were
collected and sent to the facility for testing. Others who could not produce
sputum were also referred for X-ray. Follow-up visit to patients receiving
treatment was also done. Most of them
have improved since they started receiving treatment. Two of them have died.
A very important observation is that
the X-ray results of some of the patients show the presence of other diseases
unknown to them. This is helping to
identify other disease apart from TB.

GENERAL
RECOMMENDATIONS (Executed or
Not Executed) |
||||
|
The
duration of the project makes it difficult for the achievement of results. We
need more time to provide quality work. However, we are doing our best under
the circumstance. Also, there is so much delay in releasing funds on
schedule. This makes it difficult to pay transport and volunteer allowances on
time. It also causes a break in the work since there are no personal funds to
run the project.
|
||||
|
CONCLUSION |
||||
|
The
work is ongoing and the logistics needed for effective work should be
provided on time. The project was to commence in January and funds were
released in March and we are expected to report from January. The current
trend will affect the general outcome of the project if it continues like
this. There is time constraint and no
flexibility in execution of work and this must be rectified.
